About My Thoughts

Welcome to my miscellaneous thoughts! My name is Abu Trayor and I’m just a guy trying to navigate this thing called life.

I work a corporate job and when I’m not working I focus on holistically energizing myself. I achieve this by pursing and expanding my interests. I like running, cycling, basketball, long walks (on the concrete beach), reading and trying to build something online (like this blog).

As I’ve gotten older and had the (dis)pleasure and experiencing the ups and downs of life. I’ve had to find my answer as to what it means to be successful. Is it a high paying job? Owning a house? Being married with kids? Or being a millionaire?

It was only recently as I was deep in the throes of anxiety, fear, and overwhelm that I came across my answer to that question. If you’ve ever set a goal for yourself and found yourself feeling guilty for not chasing it 24/7, dealing with the increasing self doubt, and the voices in your head growing louder everyday questioning your commitment…welcome to the club! It wasn’t until I stepped away and visited a friend for a quick weekend trip that it started to click for me.

I remember laying in bed at about midnight on Sunday telling myself. “Tomorrow I’m going to wake up a little early and dedicate 15 minutes to this”. Fast forward three days later and all the anxiety that had been building up for the past 18 months vanished. After only three days, I was able to look in the mirror and say “You are consistent”.

Those 15 minutes turned to 15 minutes first thing in the morning and first thing when I got back home from work. Those 15 minutes became the foundation of my day and has steadily increased as I trained my focus muscle (let’s call it to Focus-Maximus 9000H).

After three days I became successful.

I’ve learned that success is independent of the (desired) outcome. Success is being able to look in the mirror and say “If I keep doing exactly what I’m doing, it’s only going to be a matter of time”.

Therefore, join me on this journey on trying to be the best version of ourselves and taking small steps towards that goal everyday. The journey isn’t linear, it often takes a seemingly random path…like my thoughts.
